The Swanmore Village Design Statement was produced in 2001.
The statement was produced by residents following a questionnaire, an exhibition, a survey by Swanmore Secondary School, three workshops and two public meetings - all involving many villagers. It was drafted by six teams of people from across the village, based on a thoughtfully structured assessment of the character of the village and its setting. Its primary objective was to complement the local planning system.
Agreed by Swanmore Parish Council and adopted by Winchester City Council, the statement constitutes official Supplementary Planning Guidance. Such guidance has to be taken into account during the formal planning process for any applications for new buildings or extensions.
Copies are still available from the Parish Council office at £2.00 per copy.
